Writing has been a part of my life for over 20 years now. My first published article, a whole 250 words, was published in 1987. Since then I've had the privilege of writing several columns for a local newspaper, a regional magazine and currently an online e-zine (Positively Feminine.org). Over 200 of my articles and essays have appeared in a plethora of magazines, newspapers, e-zines, and Sunday school papers. Along the way, I've also contributed to several compilation books, wrote and published a novel, and most recently coauthored A Scrapbook of Christmas Firsts. My first love of writing however is fiction and the dream is still that ever-elusive bestseller.
When I attended my first workshop for speakers, the leader said that writing and speaking go hand in glove. Actually, it is hard to decide which area I enjoy the most. I started speaking to groups while I still owned a florist shop and would give floral demonstrations and talks to area organizations. Eventually the business was sold and my speaking engagements began to include more inspirational/motivational talks given at retreats, banquets, conferences, and other gatherings. As a member of Toastmasters International, I've actually earned a few trophies and awards and it has spurred me on to continue to work at improving my skills.
At my website, there is more information about my writing and speaking. If you are interested in booking a speaking engagement, check out my Speaker's Page.
